Herbs for Cancer Season- Wormwood

Herbs for Cancer Season- Wormwood
We've been talking a lot about plants in the Artemisia genus during this Cancer Season!

In case you missed it, plants in this genus are perfect for Cancer Season because they are so closely associated with the moon, Cancer’s ruling planet.

Wormwood, or Artemisia absinthium, is a very magickal herb in this genus. Used in folk magick in charms, incense and teas for dream work, astral projection, clairvoyance, and protection.

Plants in the Artemisia family are all quite bitter, making it an excellent remedy for GI related issues. It has historically been used in the treatment of parasites, hence the name “wormwood”.

Wormwood is perhaps most well known as the “green fairy” plant, used to give the alcohol absinthe its iconic green coloring and bitter flavor. As far as all those scary stories of hallucinations giving wormwood a bad reputation go, they’re all actually based on a misconception!

As always, keep in mind that natural products are not always necessarily safe and dosages can be important. Be sure to follow relevant directions on product labels and consult a knowledgeable herbalist, pharmacist, physician or other healthcare professional before using.
